Analytical methods for the quantification of ritonavir in pharmaceuticals, a comparative evaluation

ABSTRACT. Ritonavir is an antiretroviral medication used to treat AIDS (Acquired Immune Deficiency Syndrome)/HIV (Human Immunodeficiency Virus). This article describes the development and validation of spectrophotometric liquid chromatographic techniques for ritonavir quantification in pharmaceutical formulations. Liquid analyzes were carried out using a C18 column mobile phase consisted 20 mM KH2PO4 (pH = 3.0) acetonitrile (45:55, v/v), with flow rate 1.2 mL min-1 UV detection at 235 nm. For analyses, ethanol was employed as solvent, The spectra standard sample solution scanned between 200 800 nm, λmax determined Analytical have been validated accordance processes outlined ICH (International Council Harmonization) recommendations. results showed that analytical procedures linear, accurate, precise, robust. recovery values methods are within norms (98-102%).
